So after seven straight days of at least 12 hour days, the Kool Shen and Salif music video is finally wrapped. The last day was the day before yesterday (I think)... we shot in the Meatpacking District overnight from 7pm-7am that day. It was even better that I had to be there from 3pm until Noon the next day. Yay! Suffice it to say, I slept 17 hours yesterday/today to make up for it.

In any case, I have a pocket full of hobo stories after this crazy ass production, and there is no way I can write them all here, but a few of the gems include:

1. Going to Burger King 7 times in two days because apparently french rappers LOVE double whoppers.

2. Realizing how easy it is to make great looking videos if you have an amazing DP with a great team behind him/her. Holler at Scott Beardslee! "She's increeeedible." Ridiculous.

3. Realizing how easy it is to make great looking videos with an amazing set designer/art department. Shout out to Michael Bednark even though I didn't get the chance to chit-chat with him as much as I wanted to. Him and his team threw up some crazy sets that looked absolutely great. It was awesome seeing it come together.

4. This one scene where there are dancers washing a car in sexy, policewomen outfits and having the director look at each of them bending over literally around 4 inches away from their asses. Assessing one of them, he drops this ridiculous gem: "Can we get make-up to cover this pimple on her ass?" ... completely serious.

5. Learning that a $5,000 a day technocrane that's supposed to be used for only one shot during the night time is only useful if you actually use it during the night time...

And the list goes on and on... Overall it was a great learning experience. Next step: directing this myself instead of just assisting the director.
