Lakes and Liars

Yo ho. So I lied about the whole "posting my own stuff here next." Whoops! Been crazy busy though, so haven't had as much time as I'd like to work on that front. And oh what a great lead-in to my next topic! You might ask, "Ryan, what have you been doing that you can't take some time out to make some pretty films/posts so that I may entertain myself watching/reading them." "Working as 1st A.C. on a rad film all day and all night," is what I might respond had this hypothetical question been posed to me by you. Yadadamean?

We're shooting all around NYC in different locations, but the last three or four days, we went upstate to a beautiful lakehouse. T'was breathtaking round those parts, but mostly because it was cold as balls. Did me a little bit of paddling on the lake, a little bit of wading in freezing water, but mostly just worked, worked, worked.

Will post more soon, but not sure how anti the film crew is about having pics/vids up on the intertubes about the film. So for now, it shall remain mysterious. Oh, except for another picture:

Ralph & Me

As my dear friend Vincent has kindly pointed out, I have a serious lack of my own new work on this here blog/site. That'll change in the next month or so, but until then, I couldn't resist showing the finished Ralph Lauren video I was AC-ing on. T'was fashion week over here in NYC, which means runway shows, clothing, mayhem, gorgeous women, and crazy people.

Chiggity-check yo'self [click the photo]:

Artistic Director: Nathan Copan | DP: Marcus Burnett

Also, go to the Ralph Lauren website if you want to see the actual runway show and a whole other gaggle of goodies!

Oh, and here are some behind-the-scene slices just for you:

Featured Features & Wikipedia

See what I did with the blog post title? "Featured Features"?? Solid gold stuff right there!

In any case, just popping in for a quick update, so here it goes: the last week or two I've been working as an AC [Assistant Camera] on two independent feature films coming through the ole pipeline. One is for director Jean-Christian Bourcart called Memories of the Days to Come. I'm not going to try to explain it, but let's just say it's good and that visually, it deals with the blending of reality and perceived reality (JC's a pretty damn good photographer too so you should probably check out some of his photos since you aren't doing anything else right now).

The other feature is called 69 Love Stories by director Marc Lafia. The whole concept behind it is that it's a re-telling of the same 3-minute-or-so story in 69 similar locations with 69 different sets of actors, with each re-telling constituting its own "event story."

Even more interesting than that is Marc's Wikipeida article! It's massive! It's like 10x the size of my wikipedia article. Ok I don't have one... yet. One of my not-so-secret secret goals in life is to have a wikipedia article about me, not written by me. If you can help make this happen, I won't stop you. Also be sure to include a section that's called, "The Audry Hepburn years(s)." We all know that was a big one.

Also, please give some love to the DP [Director of Photography] I've been working with: Marcus Burnett. Mouse clicks/money/jobs will suffice. Annnnnd, I'm out.
